President's Message

Roger EltringhamDr. Anthony Libertella
President, Garden City Chamber of Commerce

It is my special pleasure to welcome you to the Garden City Chamber. It is my fervent hope that everyone enjoyed a happy and healthy holiday season. The Chamber continues to dedicate itself to its mission to service its members and the Garden City community as well as to stimulate business growth and enhance the quality, character, and vitality of our unique village.

This fall and winter your Chamber has been very active. We revitalized the Merchant Card program which we hope many of you are using to gain the discounts from our participating business entities. In addition, our After Hours Networking events such as “A Taste of Garden City” at Lord and Taylor, are extremely successful and set a high standard for our future events. These Business Luncheon Forums were kicked off this season with the CEO of LIRR addressing our members regarding the infrastructure improvements undertaken by the LIRR which will have a positive impact on Garden City and the surrounding communities. Our members have commented that events like this one give everyone a better grasp of the business dynamics at work.

The success of these events stimulates us to continue these business forums which are so well received.

I am pleased to announce that we have selected the Pineapple Ball honorees, four outstanding individuals all of whom have made a difference for Garden City. They are Patti Tenaglia as “Citizen of the Year;” John Garvey recipient of the “Community Achievement Award;” Frank Pelliccione as “Business Person of the Year” and Dr. Vincent DiGregorio the recipient of the “President's Award”.

Last but hardly least, I am also pleased to report that our Membership Committee, chaired by Chamber Board Director Jackie Goode, has developed a program to increase our membership base by emphasizing the many benefits and services the Chamber offers to its merchants, professionals, realtors, and residents. These benefits may be summarized as follows: the distinguished Garden City reputation; our educational and cultural advantages; our networking opportunities; our community events; our liaison activities with the Village government, and our Chamber Foundation.

There is every reason to be positive about the future of Garden City given the dedication of so many willing to serve in the Chamber of Commerce. Please visit our well-received website at www.GardenCityChamber.org to keep up with our activities, events and event photos

Warm regards,
Tony
