MAYOR ROTHSCHILD PRESENTS STATE OF THE VILLAGE ADDRESS TO CHAMBER

MAYOR ROTHSCHILD PRESENTS STATE OF THE VILLAGE ADDRESS TO CHAMBEROn Wednesday, May 26, Chamber members and guests filled the room at the Garden City Hotel as they listened to Mayor Robert J. Rothschild present the “State of the Village” address. The Mayor spoke of many pressing issues facing the Village including the fate of St. Paul’s, the quality of Garden City’s drinking water, the Lighthouse Project, the Village budget process, the addition of a third track, apparently “derailed,” and the state of the business district. “I have always supported the idea that a well-maintained Village attracts strong commerce and that a strong commercial area is a prized asset to the residential community,” said the Mayor, who spoke of funds that have been allotted for the rehabilitation to some of the former improvements that were so critical in reenergizing Seventh Street, Franklin Avenue and New Hyde Park Road in the late 90’s “We need to do even more now during this critical economic period we are in.” Overall, Mayor Rothschild said, “the Village is in great shape!” (Anyone who would like a complete copy of the Mayor’s address may contact the Chamber at (516) 746-7724, ext. 102.
